Internet - is it taking over our lives???

Now you do all kind of stuff on the net... you buy things and sell things and learn thing sand teach things... you meet people and fall in love...

Is it taking over our lives???

Interesting question squirrel... and not so readily answered. In some ways it enables people to be in touch with people all over the world, especially with people they otherwise might never have come in contact with. Even take this (currently :wink:) small forum for instance, David's on the East Coast of the USA, I'm on the West Coast, you're in Romania, and cocodrilo is in Japan. Yet through our various sister sites we've all come to know each other, at least a little bit, and interact on a regular basis about a variety of issues (such as dance, fitness, travel, cooking, and pets), which I think is a tremendous boon that wouldn't really be possible without the internet.

That being said, at the same time as the internet can be said to help people keep in touch, there's also the reality that there's actually much less being in touch with the internet. Physical contact and proximity are taken out of internet mediated interactions, so it can also be easy to become involved in such "relationships," without their concomitant real life complications, at the expense of such non-internet interactions.

Personally I think that when the internet serves as a secondary/supplemental means of interaction it can be a tool of great value but, when it becomes a primary means of interaction it only does so at the expense of more fundamental human interactions.

There are many uses and benefits of the Internet... it's just that sometimes people get a little bit too addicted to it!

Of course Internet has joined our lives rather strongly. This new phenomenon of present time takes great part in our lives. We find partners in Internet, we shop online, we read, we play, we study, we work. I don't know if it is good or bad. Is it good whole corporations and very important personal data of people depend on Internet? A small virus can destroy everything! :twisted:
There are a lot of dangers in Internet. You can make ann acquaintance with a person, but you don't see him, you can only believe his words. He can describe himself as a kind intelligent person and be a maniac in reality.
