Around January 1, 2005 I will be celebrating 1 year in business for myself. :D

It's been a lot of hard work, and I haven't even taken a vacation, but I am so pleased that I am making it! Moreover, prospects for 2005 look even better.

Now, I don't work because someone is giving me a paycheck every week. I do it because there is a direct corellation between what I do and how much money I make.

I hope that some of you will be making plans to start your business in the coming year. 8)

It may be posted elsewhere, and I just missed it, but what exactly is your business? How did you get started? Any particular troubles you would warn anyone else away from?

My business if web development. It really happened quite naturally. I got busy enough to quit my job, and started working from home. Very little investment has been needed, except for the occasional credit card loan to the business in slow times.

The most difficult adjustment for me was getting used to not getting a paycheck every week. Instead, I get paid by my customers. Some months it is a lot, and other months it is a little. My advice would be to make sure you save your money on the good months, so you will be prepared for the small months. But don't save so much that you don't invest in marketing yourself.

Every person who starts up his own business, deserves respect. If you start your own business, you should be ready it will not be profitable from the very beginning and you will be experiencing the money difficulties for the first time. But if you overcome all the difficulties, you will be rewarded with your own profitable business and this is great! I wish you success!
