Do you have a location in mind? And do you know how much the rent would cost each month?
I think this would be a good starting point, so you can start seeing how much money you will need to come up with each month to break even. |

Well... I have a dance school... and let me tell you the costs can be pretty high...
First, find a location, see how much the rent and the other utilities cost, then consider advertising your school... add the instructional videos you might need to purchase to improve your own skills... the music that has to be changed at least periodically... trasportation to and from the location (you have to live somewhere...), the stress... :)
Have I left anything out?
Oh yes... how many students you would need (min) and how much you can charge them to at least cover costs... and maybe make a living (if this is your intention)... in the latter case, what would you like to pay from the school? Bank installments, your own rent... food, utilities... see how much that means and you'll have a pretty good idea of costs versus income needed! :) |

Thanks.
That is so great that you have a dance studio. Thanks for some ideas to think about.
What type of dancing do you have at you school? Was it difficult to find students that wanted to join a brand new dance studio? |

I teach Salsa... currently in a club :)
I opened the school while under pressure from dance acquintances and friends in the dance scene! :)
They kept on asking when I open a studio... I used to be the assistant of another instructor (my former instructor)... but we separated due to personal issues ... and when my dance partner left too, we were both asked to open a Salsa school...
It is not easy at the beginning... friends come first... then their friends join... etc...
Don't be in a hurry to grow! Just let things happen and make sure the location is stable and reliable... so that you don't have to find a new one (as it happened to us 3 times... :( - people might become disinterested...) so start advertising only when you are sure you have a solid understanding with the owner of the venue/club... |
