If you have a small business some of the best free advertising is a website. This means one of the most important things you can do for your website is make sure that people can find it.
You can do such simple things as picking the right keywords and submitting yourself to the search engines to more time consuming things, like gathering reciprocal links to improve your page rank.
When you add your Meta Tags make sure that you are using no more than 25 or less keywords or phrases. Make sure you are picking the right keywords for your business. If you are in sales and have a vending machine wholesale business, for example, you would not want to use sales as a keyword because that is too vague.
Make sure you submit yourself to at least the major search engines and you do it when you update your site. Send submissions to yahoo and google and even ask.com or some of the other more popular sites. 98% of web searches occur on these sites so you do not need to look elsewhere to submit.
Remember when you are linking that all links count. It will be in your best interest to try and maintain similar categories that relate to your website. Having links to something like viagra won't help you so much if you are running an MLM website.
By paying attention to all these issues or having someone else handle them for your site you will ensure that you will be found by many more people than you may have without seo. |
