All my colleagues from work are very angry with the IT guys... they completely refuse to be of any help... they pretend they don't know how to fix coffee filters, faxes, printers, copy machines... they do not clean the keyboards and monitor screes of the personnel... what are they good for?!
This is true guys, people actually expect IT personnel to do all the above and more...
Is there anybody else who has had a similar experience?

welllll as a girl who has a degree in IT I can assure you I know how to do none of those things you are referring to. I was trained to work with the programming and insides of a computer. At the time I went through uni tech ppl were treated like gold and our department was certainly treated with kid gloves esp considering the lack of tech ppl in NZ due to all the grads moving overseas ( now what do you think they mean by that?)

:) I am not talking from personal experience... it's just that I have friends who work in IT... and they are asked by their colleagues to perform the most unusual tasks... :) they decline it of course...

Well when I worked int eh IT industry it was just before the bubble burst back wehn IT people were treated like gods I wouldn't have done anything that wasn't in my job description and considering how much I was paid at that time me fixing a copy machine would not be cost effective.

:) I suppose it wouldn't have been cost effective... but here, if they can get away with having one person do the job of many, why not? and they are not so well paid... :)

But be honest, when your computer doesn't work, who you call? That's the low level support they do. In the higher level, they work with the managment to design bugets for all your computing need.

I was just joking... even if some colleagues of mine do think as I said, I personally don't! I know many people who work in IT and my BF is also an IT guy!
