As a web designer we often receive requests for full flash sites. I will admit that flash is one of the most innovative, versatile, and interesting programs, however that does not mean it is not without fault.
When you build a full flash site it becomes nearly impossible to get a good placement on the search engine because your code is embedded in a flash style movie that is not read by a search engine.
Of those that I know that do flash, we are one of the few that will not build a full flash site for this reason. We want our clients to succeed and to do that people need to find them first.
Most people want flash because it screams professional and unique for every website out there. The only limitations are occasionally the budget and the designer that designs your site.
People often do not understand that flash is limited where seo is concerned, so we offer (which makes a great alternative for those of you that cannot decide how to have your sites) a combination of flash and HTML. We often incorporate small movies, banners, or pictures for the site but the actual site is an HTML shell which allows for optimal seo and makes sure that your site is professional but accessible to everyone that could benefit from your services. |
