If you are in a very competitive business you need to make sure your clients are satisfied. You should do this anyway, of course, though if your business is highly competitive you need to pay even more attention to that.

So the question is...How much are you willing to give to your clients in order to keep them.

It's said often by customers that the customer is always right...that's not always true so what is your breaking point?

I think for the most part this one just comes down to profit and loss. If it costs more to keep some group of customers than they contribute to your profit, it's time to cut them loose. Of course you have to take into consideration that you may lose other customers at the same time.

Quote: As far as the old adage "the customer is always right" goes, Best Buy doesn't buy it. The massive retailer is being vocal about something that at first might sound a little uncouth: frankly, they'd rather not have 20% of their customers as customers. In an age where it seems like everyone casts their nets as wide as possible to bring in more eyes, feet, and wallets, Best Buy is doing the opposite. They believe that a small portion of their customers are bad for business, and they're looking to shut them out.

very interesting article. I am in the internet marketing business and can tell you that some customers are bad for business. They don't understand the process of search engine ranking but do everything they can to "help".

They then over-optimize their sites by placing keyword strings on the bottom of their pages, copy stuff from other web sites, some mass email and get blacklisted and so on.

Then they go on forums and mention being your client.

In a community of online advertisers you are then being looked at as someone who either did that or encouraged them to do it and lose potential good clients because of it.

I can only agree that some of the people who either have no lives, are extremely cheap or inconsiderate are better not to have as clilents.

They will drain you to the point where you don't even want to perform a good service for them.

Just my $0.02
